Breakthrough Therapies Act

Join us in supporting the Breakthrough Therapies Act for MDMA and psilocybin mental health treatment!

Dr. Hannah On Capitol Hill

Dr. Hannah McLane recently accompanied the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition & Reason for Hope in DC for a crucial fly-in focused on the Breakthrough Therapies Act. This bipartisan & bicameral bill aims to streamline R&D for psychedelic-assisted therapy.

During the fly-in, over sixty meetings were held in just two days at senator and congress members' offices. The Coalition and its incredible advocates shared their stories with policymakers from all parties, emphasizing the urgent need to remove restrictions on these therapies.

Currently, these groundbreaking therapies are classified as Schedule I controlled substances, imposing significant barriers to access and impeding crucial research efforts. This bill seeks to reschedule the compounds to Schedule 2, which would recognize their medical use and open the doors to further research.

At a time when the United States is grappling with a mental health crisis, specific demographics, including veterans, are disproportionately affected, with an alarming average of 20 lives lost to suicide each day. We owe it to those struggling with mental health challenges to enact change and ensure access to innovative treatments that offer hope and healing.

Let's work together to ensure these life-saving medicines reach those who need them most. Please help spread the word by sharing this information and supporting our initiative. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of veterans and others suffering from mental health issues.
