Dr. Hannah McLane recently accompanied the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition & Reason for Hope in DC for a crucial fly-in focused on the Breakthrough Therapies Act. This bipartisan & bicameral bill aims to streamline R&D for psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Dr. Hannah McLane had the pleasure of speaking with NBC’s Today Show in a segment titled Moms On Mushrooms. During the piece, Hannah explores the effects of psilocybin and its promising ability to treat depression when combined with psychotherapy.

This program is 10 months in length and features monthly groups to learn leadership skills, make connections and network, and create a core group of first cohort BIPOC leaders to conceptualize decolonizing psychedelics from the inside out. We meet monthly with 5 core facilitators. This fellowship is majority BIPOC-only with some additional networking opportunities outside the BIPOC space.

Oregon will approve the first psilocybin therapy facilitators in the country, and the SoundMind Institute is one of a handful of organizations approved to train these new professionals. Founded in 2010 by Dr. Hannah McLane, SoundMind is a grassroots, women-led organization committed to bringing ethics, equity and innovation to psychedelic medicine.

SoundMind’s Psychedelic Facilitator Training Program was recently featured in the MAPS bulletin. We are grateful to have the recognition of Jon Dennis, an esteemed psychedelic advocate and lawyer and are proud to announce that he has joined our advisory team as the Oregon Psilocybin Policy Advisor.

As transgender and gender non-conforming people have long been marginalized within the medical system, it is important to be aware of the unique challenges and needs of this population as we continue to learn how to co-create safe spaces for all people in psychedelic therapy.

Veterans are seeking out cutting edge psychedelic treatments, including ketamine, to address a variety of serious mental health conditions. SoundMind, a psychedelic therapy and training center with a national footprint, has launched our Veteran Peer Support Model to help open doors to these important options.

There is an urgent need for effective, accessible mental health interventions for veterans, and psychedelic-assisted therapies offer hope for more effective interventions to treat PTSD, depression, and other mental health concerns.

SoundMind Institute is dedicated to educating the public on psychedelic-assisted therapy, and advocating for these life-changing treatments in local and national policy settings. One of the most powerful ways to advocate for these treatments is through sharing the real-life stories of those who have been helped by psychedelic medicine and psychedelic-assisted therapy.

The Solidarity Series is an initiative by SoundMind Project, a nonprofit aimed at providing access to wellness information and therapy to marginalized groups in Philadelphia and beyond. This free monthly speaker lineups took place from June 2020 – June 2021, with a particular focus on mental and cognitive health, alternative medicine, and psychedelics. All donations related to this series went towards providing educational material and psychotherapy to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), and COVID-19 essential workers in need. Additionally, SoundMind has ongoing scholarships available to BIPOC for educational courses (SoundMind Learning Series) and sliding scale for psychedelic psychotherapy.
