SoundMind Psychedelic Facilitator Training Application

This application is for our 12-Month Facilitator Program, the live/synchronous part beginning mid September 2024 for our core curriculum with the addition of a prerequisite summer course.

We will continue accepting new students until we reach our cap. If you have questions for us about your application before then, please email admissions@soundmind.institute

This program is approximately 250 course hours and we pride ourselves in being the most comprehensive training program available. We also offer aspects of ceremonial and plant medicine practices that no other training programs offer, in order to give you psychotherapeutic perspectives as well as traditional plant medicine perspectives.

About this Program: This training program is designed to help clinicians, students, and others understand the literature and practice of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, including the use of ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin in the therapeutic setting.  Please keep in mind that typically 50% of people we accept are NOT clinicians yet, but have an interest in potentially pursing this life path. Most of the skills we teach are applicable to all psychedelic facilitation and our students have really enjoyed learning about many different medicines, not just one. We receive 1-2 applications per day for this course so we are not able to accept everyone who applies.

Each week you are expected to read 5-6 articles and be ready to discuss them, and there will be short writing assignments as well for reflection. You also have a 1-hour accountability group each week, and it is scheduled around your availability. We expect total time you will need to spend per week on this class to be approximately 10 hours.

This course is experiential in nature, and we will be offering various opportunities to experience breathwork and non-ordinary meditative states during this course - via guided sessions during the Zoom meetings - and ask participants to reflect on these experiences.

During the 2-hour classes each week we welcome an additional lecturer in addition to Dr. McLane, who can add to the discussion. These are people with specific areas of experience within psychedelic therapy as well as other subject areas. This can help you grow your psychedelic therapy network, and understand various players and experts in the field. We are now also including the plant dieta course within this course ($2000 value), in which you receive a plant box in the mail and do 2 months of plant spirit work (this is optional if you want to opt-out).

Class meets Tuesdays 4-6PM PT / 7-9PM ET and starts in September 2024. If you arenโ€™t able to make this time, we can place you in an asynchronous learning group, which is usually what our European students choose to do. The asynchronous group will follow the same pace as the class, but will watch recordings of the class in place of attending class in person (you will have the entire week to do so). You can opt into the asynchronous group before the course begins. Accountability groups will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at a variety of times (you can choose). If you choose the asynchronous learning option, you will stil receive the same certificate as other students, but you will not qualify to sit for the Oregon Psilocybin Facilitator Exam.

You will receive a certificate of completion from SoundMind at the end of this course if you fulfill all the course requirements. All students need to complete a 5-7 day experiential practicum training retreat in order to receive a certificate, and you have 2 years from the end of the course to complete the practicum experience. You will not receive a completion certificate until you have completed the practicum training portion (live).

*Please note that for each cohort, topics and guest speakers may change. The list on our website is the list of people who rotate in for teaching. Not everyone will appear in each cohort.
